simple is hard
It's an oxymoron, but simple is much harder to do than complex. Keeping things simple requires one to adhere to a basic but challenging principle: brutal honesty.
Strip away the layers of distraction and chaos, and we're left with the crux—the heart of it all. It might not be as flashy or dramatic as the overdressed, grandiose interpretations we often weave to impress our audience, but its raw simplicity makes it authentic and personal.
We get so carried away trying to be better, fancier, more sophisticated, that we often overlook the beauty that lies in simplicity. Simple looks and feels easy, but ask any designer, writer or creator worth their salt, and they’ll tell you the same thing: simple is incredibly hard.
And so it should be.
